Food Safety
At Cravin, we want to help make cooking easier and more enjoyable. Because Cravin uses artificial intelligence to identify ingredients, generate recipes, and provide cooking assistance, it is important to remember that AI can make mistakes.
Always use proper food-handling practices and independently verify safety-critical cooking information.
AI & Food Safety
Cravin's recipes, ingredient identifications, cooking instructions, and other AI-generated information may contain errors.
Do not rely solely on Cravin to determine whether food is safe to eat.
Always:
- Check food labels and packaging.
- Follow manufacturer instructions when applicable.
- Use a food thermometer when cooking meat, poultry, seafood, and other foods where temperature is important.
- Follow appropriate storage and refrigeration practices.
- Prevent cross-contamination between raw and ready-to-eat foods.
- Use your own judgment and trusted food-safety guidance when preparing food.
Safe Cooking Temperatures
Use a food thermometer to verify internal temperature.
Poultry
165°F (74°C)Chicken, turkey, duck, and other poultry, including whole poultry, poultry pieces, and ground poultry
Ground Meat
160°F (71°C)Ground beef, pork, lamb, and veal

Leftovers & Casseroles

When applicable, follow additional product-specific or government food-safety guidance.
Clean, Separate, Cook & Chill
Clean
Wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds before and after handling food. Clean cutting boards, utensils, dishes, countertops, and other food-contact surfaces appropriately. Rinse fresh fruits and vegetables under running water.
Separate
Keep raw meat, poultry, seafood, and eggs separate from ready-to-eat foods. Avoid using the same unwashed cutting boards, plates, knives, or utensils for raw and cooked foods.
Cook
Cook food to an appropriate safe internal temperature. Use a food thermometer rather than relying only on appearance, color, texture, cooking time, or AI-generated instructions to determine whether food is safe.
Chill
Keep your refrigerator at 40°F (4°C) or below. Refrigerate or freeze perishable foods within 2 hours of cooking or purchasing them, or within 1 hour when temperatures are above 90°F (32°C). Do not thaw perishable foods on the counter.
Allergies & Dietary Restrictions
Cravin may use allergy and dietary information you provide to personalize recipes and recommendations.
Cravin cannot guarantee that a recipe or recommendation is free from a particular allergen.
Ingredient recognition and AI-generated recipes may contain mistakes or omissions.
If you or someone you are cooking for has a food allergy:
- Independently verify every ingredient.
- Read product labels every time.
- Check substitutions and packaged ingredients.
- Consider cross-contact and cross-contamination risks.
- Do not rely solely on Cravin's ingredient scanner, recipes, or AI assistant to determine whether food is safe.
If you have a severe or life-threatening food allergy, use appropriate professional medical guidance and established allergy-safety practices.
Nutrition Information
Calories, protein, carbohydrates, fat, and other nutrition information displayed by Cravin are estimates and may vary.
Actual nutrition can differ based on ingredient brands, quantities, substitutions, serving sizes, and preparation methods.
Cravin's nutrition information is not medical or dietary advice.
Higher-Risk Individuals
Certain people may face greater risks from foodborne illness, including pregnant people, young children, older adults, and people with weakened immune systems or certain medical conditions.
If you are preparing food for someone at increased risk, consider following additional food-safety guidance appropriate to their circumstances.
When in Doubt
If you are uncertain whether food has been stored, handled, prepared, or cooked safely, do not rely solely on an AI-generated response to make that determination.
Consult authoritative food-safety guidance or an appropriate professional.
